March 31st

Wow i cant believe it is the last day of march. I think it went by pretty fast.. Of course not fast enough for me because i am still counting down the days until we can move back to utah but it still went pretty fast... Boy today i am feeling old...

This morning I woke up and got kids off to school and tried to keep justifying my reasons why i couldnt go run my 2 miles i usually do in the mornings with the dog. I'v just started running well i should say more like jogging about 3 weeks ago and i have never ran/jogged in my life. Growing up it always hurt to bad to run with all my endimetriosis problems so i have always been a walker. I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago so no more pains yeah!!! So I thought I would try running and to my surprise I was able to go about a mile to a mile and a half without pooping out or feeling like i was going to die.. I guess i was in fairly decent shape cardiovascular wise anyways. The only thing holding me back is i have had 2 right knee scopes so it is kinda painful on my knee when i run.

Anyways I had done my 2 miles sat and was still hurting so i really didnt feel like going today and it was gray and cold this morning so i figured id just stay home today but when I got home from dropping logan off at preschool my faithful buddy lucky (my lhaso apso) was standing at the door waiting for me and I said oh not today its to cold but he wasnt about to move he just kept waiting so I was going to just walk him over to the park a half block down from our house but then I got out and heard the birds chirping and figured it wasnt to bad out so I kept going and got in my 2 mile route. Of course the last half of mile it started raining on us... I think if it wasnt for my knee hurting i could prob run 3-4 miles because I feel great otherwise. Owell so I came home and decided to pedal 8 miles on the recumbent bike instead. Now my knee is aching and im feeling pretty old... Of course then when i get all done i go have 2 big rice crispy treats. (Another one of my weaknesses) I could just shoot myself for making them yesterday.

I am so weak right now when it comes to my eating. I went grocery shopping Sat and i had to walk right past the mini reese's peanut butter cups ( my drug addiction) which i eat by the handfuls, and I couldnt fight off the urge to grab them and run so now i have another bag in my cubbards. I even went and put them back on the shelf and then went back and got them again how bad is that???

and what do i do....... let the kids talk me into making rice crispy treats after church and 3/4 of the pan is gone already and half of that was mostly mine.... Of course i justify it all by saying hey i excrecised for a whole hour today i just burned those calories.. RIGHT!! What a great way of thinking.. NOT!!!!! Back to my diet which isnt working so hot right now either.. Geese i wonder why???????? LOL

So this diet...........This is what it consist of... I tried it about a year and a half ago and i was really comitted and lost about 30 pounds and was feeling so great but it is so hard..... And now i just cant seem to stick with it... I do good all week then the weekend comes and i want to eat with my family and its usually bad food and there goes all my progress.. Alright so it goes like this..

No dairy, No salt, No sugars, No fats, Oils ect

100 ounces of water a day. 6 meals a day eat a meal every 2-3 hours

For breakfast

2 oz. of protein

1/2 C carb

and 1/2 C fruit

mid morning snack

2 oz. protein

1/2 c carb

Lunch

2 oz. Protein

1/2 c carb

all the veggies i want

Mid afternoon snack

2 oz protein

1/2 c carb

Dinner

Same as lunch

Night Snack

1/2 c fruit. (optional)

Carbs consist mainly of rice, Potatoe. Yam, Sweet potatoes, squash and my proteins consist of chicken, fish, egg whites cant have the yolks, turkey. And my fruits i cant remember the whole list but i cant have certain ones that naturally contain alot of sugar like oranges and melons.

So as you can see its really tough.. I guess the combination of the protein and carb makes your body burn it quickly and aids in the weight loss plus eating 6 times a day increases the metabolism. I feel like i just eat the same stuff over and over chicken and rice, turkey, rice or fish and rice or potatoe. So it is very difficult not to fall off the wagon. I do great most of the time with the water and no salt and i use the splenda instead of sugar but its the rest that is so hard. I dont know how i did it for 6-8 months before but now i cant seem to do it. Anyone got a better diet that is more do-able that works as well.

Wow sorry everyone this was a long blog.. hope i didnt put you all to sleep.

Power to the Woman

Power to the women!

By the time the Lord made woman, he was into his sixth day of working overtime. An angel appeared and said, "Why are you spending so much time on this one?"And the Lord answered, "Have you seen the spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable, run on diet coke and leftovers, have a lap that can hold four children at one time, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart and have two pairs of hands." The angel was astounded at the requirements. "Two pairs of hands! No way! And that's just on the standard model? That's too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish. "But I can't," the Lord protested. "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work 18 hour days." The angel moved closer and touched the woman. "But you have made her so soft, Lord." "She is soft," the Lord agreed, "but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish."

"Will she be able to think?", asked the angel. The Lord replied, "Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason and negotiate." The angel then noticed something, and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek. "Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model. I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.""That's not a leak," the Lord corrected, "that's a tear!" "What's the tear for?" the angel asked. The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love, her loneliness, her grief and her pride." The angel was impressed.

"You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything! Woman is truly amazing." And she is! Women have strengths that amaze men. They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up to injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss can help to heal a broken heart. Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning! They bring joy and hope. They have compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have vital things to say and everything to give.

When i have one of those days where i feel small and insignificant and i just cant do or be the mom, friend, wife i am supposed to be i love to read this poem it helps buoy me up.. We women are really special and are made for so many purposes..

Im happy its friday.. Yeah... 2 more days and kids are back in school woo hoo!!! J/k It really hasnt been to bad.. They have rally been bored this week with nothing to do and i think they are ready to go back to school to see friends again. The worst part of having them go back is no more sleeping in... boo hoooo Owell.. I get to go to luch with some friends from the ward today so that will be fun and a little break for me. Cant wait!!! Guess i better get off this thing and get going....

Easter

We had a great easter. Kids woke up at 6:30 to go hunt easter eggs so we could make it to church by 9:00. They were so excited you would think it was christmas..

Even our little dog lucky got some eggs with a special treat inside.

Then a nice family from our ward had us and a couple other families over for dinner and an egg hunt for the kids. We had a great time..

Then today Steve took the day off to have a day with us since it was spring break. Allie woke up with a fever (102) and chills and a headache. We are hoping it doesnt go through the rest of us. The rest of us has had spring fever and have been outside working in the yard and playing. Its been a nice sunny day.. still on the cool side but nice. This was our accomplishments for the day..

This whole area was covered over with ground cover and this is the natural area everyone walks over to get to the back yard so we decided to put a stone path here.

We had all our firewood stacked up against the house then we decided to move it out under the trees because i guess everyone here keeps their wood away from their house because its so wet and humid here that the potential for termites is very high..

Then we had this big area under the pine trees and thought it would make a great entertaining and family area for summertime so we put our bench and swing out there with a table and a fire pit. I thought it turned out great.. Steve siad our neighbors will think we are red necks...

Then we put some little green fencing around some of the flower beds in the yard and put all my yard animals out in them, plus we widened the stone walk way a little. It was a fun day.

March 17th

Happy St. Patricks Day everyone.

My kids were so happy to go to school today and wear green. They couldnt wait to find someone to pinch for not wearing green. I was going to color their milk in their cereal green this morning but thought it might not be worth the hassle of convincing them it still tasted the same.
It was a pretty laid back weekend for us. It was way to short though!! Steve and i had to give our first talks in our new ward so we spent saturday trying to prepare for that.. It's so funny i am usually the shy one and dont talk much and steve is the outgoing blabber mouth but the last 2-3 times we have talken in church i usually take up to much time and dont leave enough time for him.. Go figure.. Owell it went over ok i guess...
Steve left for chicago early this morning poor guy he was so tired. As much as i envy him sometimes for always getting to travel and eat out and not have to hang with the kids all day i feel bad for him and i am sure it is stressful for him to be gone all the time..

Saturday was fun i jogged 2 miles straight with allie on her bike riding behind me. I was pretty impressed i went that far without passing out. I'v never been much of a runner or jogger. I'v always rathered walking. My knee was talking to me the whole time though. I'v had surgery on it twice and it just doesnt seem to handle running very well. There are so many paths and trails here and there are so many trees its like walking in the forrest. It makes walking/ jogging so much more enjoyable.

Anyways that was our weekend.. Not too exciting. Hoping you all have a great st. patricks day, and may the luck of the irish bless you and your familys.

March 12, 2008

Ok so im not doing good on this daily stuff yet, but just a update....

Last night jessie lost her first tooth on the bottom and the one right next to it is almost out as well so she will have her bottom 2 center teeth out. She's way proud of herself.

Had a party friday for allie and some of her friends from school kind of a belated birthday party. She had alot of fun..

We bought another used car on sat... And a bad storm came through on sat. We got alot of rain and had some really bad winds it knocked over 2 telephone power lines and a huge tree across one of the major roads here and had it closed down until last night. We were trying to get home and had to take some detour roads and the one we chose had broken trees laying across the road as well plus tons of debris everywhere. It had looked like a tornado went through. It blew our table over out back and threw the bird feeders out of the trees it was wild...
Anyways thats about it for the last couple days. Will blog more later...

March 2008

Ok so today is March 6th and i just found out about this blog stuff. I know im a little slow!! So i thought i would sign up and give it a try.

Well I think Allie is getting the cold that we have all been passing back and forth for the last 6 weeks. Jessica woke up with pink eye today. At least thats what I am thinking. Called the Dr. and just waiting to hear back wether or not we need to take her in or they might just call in some drops for her.

Steve was in a car accident on friday morning. Thank heavens he was not seriously hurt. A little achy and a nasty headache but is well. The car was not so fortunate. We bought it for 6 thousand in november and they want 5100 to fix it up. We only had liability on it so insurance wont cover it so now we are trying to decide wether to fix it or buy a diffrent one.. When it rains it pours!!!

We are still trying to get used to life here in New jersey.. Its been a hard adjustment for us all but hopefully it will get better day by day.. We are missing home and family in utah terribly.. The kids are doing pretty good in school and we have kept them in their same activitys they were doing in utah. Allie with her piano lessons, Austin with his karate and we decided to put jessie in horse riding lessons and she is just enjoying it so much.. She has had such a passion for horses since she was just a baby and now she is just loving the lessons. I think we are in trouble... she has been asking for a horse since she was 3 and i dont think she will ever stop. We keep telling her to save her money!!! We are excited for spring to come and be able to be outdoors more.. We have had a couple days since we have been here that has been in the 60's and it felt so nice. But then drops by 2o degrees the next day.. The weather pattern is really strange here. We did however finally get our first snow a couple weeks ago which made us feel a little more like home. I even got to shovel the driveway for 1 1/2 hrs. They canceled school for only 4-5 inches which we thought was really strange because in utah it would have to snow 3 feet for them to cancel school there, but hey the kids loved it and had a blast playing in it. Unfortunately it rains out here like every couple days so it didnt last long and has been melted away.

Allie and Jessie both had their birthdays in february. We celebrated jessies by going to chucky cheese and taking a friend. For allies we just had a family party gave her a scavenger hunt to find her new bike and we let her have a sleepover with her good friend yunni from school, and this friday we are letting her invite a few of the girls from school to have a pizza party hoping she can get to know these girls a little better. It has been hard on her because she only has made 1 good friend in school. We dont have any girls her age that live near by so it has been a big change for her to get used to. She has learned to play with her brother and sisters or just read alot. We are hoping we find more girls her age as it warms up and kids start coming out more. Austin happens to have 1 friend (Jonathon) in his class at school that is in his primary class at church as well so they have become pretty good buddies and he lives about 5-6 blocks away so he plays with him. And there is 1 girl on our street (Alysse) that is jessies age so she has made a good buddie as well. We havnt found anyone for logan yet and she feels kind of left out but she is still to little to be really going to play with anyone yet anyways. We hope the kids find a couple more friends to play with to give them a little variety but are grateful for the ones they have made so far.

Steve is staying busy with work. Its not quite what he was expecting but is trying to make the best of it.. It looks like he is going to start traveling again for the next few months for some trainings going on within the company so hopefully once its over he will settle back down and be home a little more. I'm still just me doing the same thing i do everyday being a mom and all the fun stuff that goes along with that responsibility.. I hope to find a good friend out here to go do some things with occassionally but i tend to be a little shy and dont make friends real easily.

We are looking forward to this summer to have my parents come out and go see some of the history back here. And maybe a visit from some good friends back in santaquin. We miss our friends terribly.. Anyways thats us and what life has been like for us since we moved out here in Dec. I'll try to get on daily to add stuff but wont promise anything..
